Agriculture in harmony with nature – with love for animals and land
Our farm is managed according to organic principles – out of conviction and with great joy in working with nature. We aim to keep our animals and manage our land in a way that maintains balance: healthy, sustainable and in tune with the rhythm of the seasons.
Various animals live on our farm, each with their own special place:
Our calves are raised with great care and plenty of time. They grow up here on our farm and are allowed to spend the summer on the alpine pasture, where they enjoy fresh mountain herbs, clear spring water and lots of freedom to move. This is probably the most beautiful form of animal welfare.
Our chickens enjoy free-range living. They scratch in the grass, search for their own food and provide fresh eggs for a perfect start to the day.
Our cats are simply part of farm life. They keep mice away, roam through the meadows and are always happy to be petted now and then.
Our work follows the course of nature. Much of what we do is still done by hand – honest, simple and with heart. We take great care to ensure our animals are well looked after and our meadows remain healthy, so that future generations can continue to enjoy this special place.
Guests staying with us are welcome to experience everything as it is – without programmes, without frills, simply the way life in the countryside truly is. You might meet the calves in the pasture in the morning or hear the sound of cowbells in the evening.
For children, a farm is fascinating, but it is not a suitable playground. There is a high risk of accidents, especially near the silos, where there is an acute risk of suffocation due to lack of oxygen. The area around the slurry pit and the stable can also become dangerous very quickly.
Dear parents, we therefore kindly ask you to ensure that your children do not enter the barn, stable or other operational areas. This way, everyone can enjoy a safe and carefree stay on the farm.
In winter, you are very welcome to visit us during stable time at around 6:00 pm.
Hosts
The Gerold Family
The Zoberbauer holiday farm was built and lovingly run by Annemarie and Konrad Sr. Now we, Kathrin and Konrad, are continuing to run the Zoberhof, with lots of support from our retired farmers.
Konrad grew up on the farm. Although his professional path took him in a different direction for a time, he was always happy to return to his parents’ farm. Today, he continues to run it together with his brother, with great passion and dedication.
Kathrin originally comes from Partenkirchen and has found her place of well-being here. With great attention to detail, she takes care of the holiday apartments and is your direct point of contact. She enjoys working with people and looks forward to offering guests a pleasant and relaxing stay.
Together, the two have two real little rascals who make sure there is never a dull moment.
House name “Zober”
The old Zoberbauer farmstead was located directly on the Mühlbach stream, which today flows underground. The house name “Zober” is derived from the old word for a (laundry) tub. In the past, people liked to meet by the Zober at the Mühlbach while doing their laundry, taking time for friendly conversations. From this tradition, hosting holiday guests in Oberammergau has developed and continued for several generations.
Zober am Mühlbach
In 2018, we built the holiday apartments Zober am Mühlbach on the former farmstead in the centre of Oberammergau. These apartments are especially suitable for couples who would like to enjoy a little wellness in their own accommodation. More information can be found at www.zober-ferienwohnungen.de
